Lavazza, one of the world’s largest coffee producers, will collaborate with celebrated Melbourne artist Beci Orpin in a one-off design event at the Virgin Australia Melbourne Fashion Festival (VAMFF).

Guests will watch as Orpin spontaneously creates a large-scale art piece on a giant cup at the festival’s opening night on Saturday March 14th.

Smaller takeaway cups sold at the event will also emulate Orpin’s design.

The collaboration celebrates Lavazza’s 120th anniversary this year, and will be an opportune moment for Lavazza to invigorate its brand identity.  Lavazza will also officially launch their new “A Modo Mio Fantasia” machines during the festival.

Beci Orpin has been at the forefront of the Melbourne design scene for many years, and is well known for her bright and distinctive work.  Her whimsical and intricate designs often feature a mix of different materials, like paper, wood and textiles, and found objects.

Her design services are sought by many international and local brands such as Gorman, Visa, Mercedes Benz, NAB, Optus, and Isetan in Japan.  Beci’s personal flair comes across in her collaborations and creative projects, which are regularly exhibited in local and international design venues.

Beci, a self-confessed big fan of coffee, will produce the VAMFF artwork as an interpretation the Lavazza brand, and will inject it with creativity and colour.

To see Beci create her artwork live, head to the Central Pier, Melbourne’s Docklands from 6pm onwards.
