The shortlists for the IDEA 2020 Object – Furniture and Lighting (Rising) and Residential Decoration categories have been revealed today.
The shortlisted projects for each category are listed below in a dedicated video and featured on the IDEA website, where you can find more images and information about each project.
Shortlisted projects were selected by our editorial team. A further round of judging by our jury – Andrew Parr, Hana Hakim, Rachel Luchetti, Simone Haag, Anna Spiro, Brendan Wong and Jeremy Bull – will determine the category winners, which will be announced at our annual IDEA gala.
Here are the shortlisted projects for the Object – Furniture and Lighting (Rising) category. This category is proudly supported by Zenith.
This is category serves as a showcase of the brightest rising stars of Australian furniture and lighting design. It is specifically for students or recent graduates.
The work submitted to this category will be judged on form and function, but objects that demonstrate genuine innovation will be highly regarded.
And here are the shortlisted projects for the Residential Decoration category:
This category is all about the dressing of residential interiors and how that contributes to enhance the experience of inhabitation.
Unlike the other two Residential categories, Residential Decoration is concerned purely with qualities brought to an existing dwelling by a designer who may have had little or no input into its architectural elements.
The selection of furnishings, both soft and hard, colour, surfaces, and fixtures and fittings are all of key importance here.
Browse all the shortlisted projects on the Object – Furniture and Lighting (Rising) page and Residential Decoration page. Congratulations to everyone who has been shortlisted.
