Cassina has redeveloped Le Corbusier’s bespoke sofa designed in 1934, with new finishes and larger proportions. The new design has been officially unveiled at the Milan Furniture Fair.
The original sofa was custom-designed by Le Corbusier, Pierre Jeanneret and Charlotte Perriand for the living room of Corbusier’s new apartment in Paris. It was first ‘re-edited’ by Cassina in 1974 in one single size with a chrome frame. The latest version, which is bigger than the former edits, used the original sofa from the Parisian apartment as reference.
The backrest that continues down to the base of the frame and the large cushions, padded with feathers, create a more comfortable seat. The metal frame is now available in the seven colours, including basalt, grey, pale blue, green, burgundy and ochre varnish, or matt black varnish. The cushions have a feathered and polyurethane foam padding, with a leather or fabric exterior.
