Last week a taste of Switzerland launched in Melbourne with the opening of the new V-Zug showroom in East Kew. The showroom, designed by Whiting Architects, is all substance and style, and perfectly showcases the ovens, cooktops and laundry appliances from the upmarket Swiss company. The space was packed to capacity with architects, interior designers and retail partners who joined V-Zug global CEO Dirk Hoffmann and director of sales and marketing Australia, Mark Tragear, in the main showroom area, where there was plenty happening in the kitchen and purpose-built dining room.
V-Zug had gathered together three of Melbourne’s top chefs, Jacques Reymond, Ian Curley and Scott Pickett and each had designed a menu that paid tribute to the best ingredients from Switzerland cooked and presented with an Australian sensibility.
The designer, Carole Whiting, commented that the interior had “stayed true” to the Swiss brand, but had been softened to appeal to the Australian customer. A feature of the showroom is the large rectangular dining table, with five overhead pendant lights, that helps to create an intimate atmosphere in which to enjoy the fruits from the adjoining kitchen.
The new showroom features products from Hub Furniture, Cosentino, which supplied Dekton for benchtops, and flooring and wood floors by Admonter Australia.
“It was a real pleasure to create a showroom that was unique in its design, where we can bring the warmth and feel of a home to a commercial space. Working with a suite of premium architectural products that have chosen to align with V-Zug is a statement of where this appliance brand sits in the market; it is one of the world’s best,” said Whiting at the launch.
