Hobart’s buzzing arts hub, the Museum of Old and New Art (MONA), will host the Australian Design Biennale this month.
The weekend of creative convergence begins with a drinks and registration evening, progressing with a range of events, debate and discussion at a MONA-curated forum the following day. Adding a local flavor to the festivities, the event will showcase Tasmanian drinks and produce, accompanying the MONA’s exemplary art and design.
The Biennale brings together Australian designers, artists, politicians, activists, writers and creative directors from around Australia. This year, guests are invited to discuss the theme of ‘crossing the line’, revealing their insight on the concept of diverging from standard practice.
Speakers will include politician and activist Bob Brown, object designer Trent Jansen, artist Casey Jenkins, MONA/Dark Mofo creative director Leigh Carmichael, ACCA artistic director Juliana Engberg, furniture designer/maker Patrick Hall and Marcus Westbury of Renew Australia.
The event forms part of an extended celebration for the highly anticipated AGDA Design Awards, held on the Saturday of the Biennale.
When:
Thursday 13November – Registration and welcome drinks
Friday 14 November – Creative forum and P20 party
Saturday 15 November – AGDA Design Awards
