Tamsin Johnson pays tribute to Bondi in flagship SIR. store

Featuring an eclectic melange of mid-century decor and curved glass, SIR. Bondi celebrates seven years of the cult Australian fashion brand.

With interior design by Tasmin Johnson, SIR. Bondi draws upon the brand’s origins and fashion identity with its beachy look and feel.

Created by best friend duo Nikki Campbell and Sophie Coote in 2014, SIR. has developed a reputation for its minimal and effortless apparel, which is also strongly referenced in the flagship store’s decor and colour palette.

“The flagship boutique pays homage to the brand’s evolution and overall sentiment with a feeling that is gentle but confident,” SIR. tells ADR.

Contemporary brown frames provide a sneak peek of what’s to come.

Encased with curved glass and espresso brown steel frames, SIR. Bondi’s shopfront provides a sophisticated and contemporary taste of what’s to come inside.

The interior highlights a polished concrete floor patterned by grey circular prints that also match the translucent glass block.

Johnson drew upon Bondi’s residential architecture with spray-rendered walls that subtly mimic interiors commonly found in beach houses.

The interior sublimely blends cream with blue to honour Bondi Beach.

The soft grey colour palette blends with beige velvets and sheer cream linens that also juxtapose the stainless steel joinery and crisp visual snap of acrylic.

With a strong affinity for antique furniture, Johnson has decked out SIR. Bondi with sculptural decor spanning the mid-century to the 1980s, adding personality and edge to the space.

Reductive and architectural lighting also ensures vintage pieces remain statuesque, while never competing with the brand’s products.

A Swiss ‘De Swede’ sofa commands the dressing room.

And such products are deserving of an equally stylish dressing room.

Featuring an iconic Swiss ‘De Swede’ (Non-stop) sofa, French 1950s Brutalist stools and large blue-trimmed mirrors, this dressing room is primed for hours spent trying on clothes fit for an audience.

A custom silk carpet in caramel also reflects the Corian inlays of the polished concrete throughout the entire store.

With ingenious harmony of vintage and contemporary styling, SIR. Bondi is a sympathetic representation of its iconic and treasured location.
