The stellar project is Casba, a medium-density infill development in Sydney’s inner west, designed by SJB in conjunction with Billard Leece Partnership, with interiors by BKH.

The development sits on Danks Street in Waterloo, a former industrial zone now occupied by trendy hospitality joints and vibrant art spaces.

“With Casba, we wanted to honour the established grain and texture of the Waterloo location but we had to balance heritage considerations of this former warehouse precinct with the growing expectations of inner city living environments,” says Adam Haddow, director of SJB Architects Sydney and principle architect for the development.

“We are over the moon with this accolade and feel completely honoured to have SJB and Billard Leece’s (BLP) work on Casba acknowledged by such a prestigious international award,” says Haddow.

“Moreover, as an Australian company it is a privilege and point of pride to have our work judged and deemed exceptional by a jury of international peers and we thank WAF for the opportunity”.
