Prefab designer-builder Archiblox, the brains behind the world’s first carbon positive prefabricated house, has designed and constructed a pop-up ice-cream store in Melbourne’s Federation Square.

The space, named House of Häagen-Dazs, will be open and serving ice-cream for three more weeks, before moving to the Rocks in Sydney.

The bespoke store features “detailed joinery with intricate paneling, custom booth seating and sophisticated window portals embodied with suspended planters and rope detailing creating an all-encompassing striking Scandinavian-look fitout,” Archiblox said on their website.

Experts in prefabricated design, Archiblox focus on sustainable designs and work to reach 8-star energy ratings. Early last year, they developed the world’s first carbon positive prefabricated house, which was unveiled at Melbourne’s City Square. The wood-panelled one-bedroom home produces more energy than it consumes, and self-regulates heating and cooling through natural ventilation systems. The design won the Residential – New Build prize at the 2015 International Green Interior Awards.

Archiblox has worked to change the game when it comes to modular homes, bringing a considered design focus to smaller residential projects while simultaneously working to achieve sustainability goals, as seen in their Avalon house – a home that features intimate design reflecting the surrounding coastal environment.
