"My outdoor sculptures are often large in scale to fit in with the environment - think medium sized tree in scale - and have a multitude of similar elements that move in relationship to each with a rhythmic motion. I try to build pattern and form as layers of elements that move in and out of phase with each other and I’m often trying to create a hypnotic or euphoric experience."
Despite the Bondi II's coastal setting, the owners didn’t want a typical beach house. Spread over three levels, it includes a craft room, music room, a library that doubles as a guest room, and a cinema room, draped in blue velvet, with blue carpet and blue walls.
Collingwood-based artist Rone completed a number of murals in the old Alphington Paper Mills in Melbourne, a building that has now been demolished. The works investigated themes of beauty and decay, and were secretly created in various abandoned houses and buildings around Melbourne and documented in a photographic print series.
