Vivid, Sydney's annual festival of light, music and ideas, begins tonight. ADR has collated a list of the greatest events and sights that will be of interest to the architecture and design industry, including talks by William Smart, an installation by architectural practice Turner, and a discussion on housing affordability.
Eighty-eight projects have been shortlisted for this year’s NSW Architecture Awards, selected from a record field of over 200 entries. Those shortlisted include projects by Woods Bagot, SJB, fjmt, Smart Design Studio and Chenchow Little, among many others.
"The building has such a fantastic patina of age. Dishevelled layers of paint peel back to expose layers of building and decoration that date back to 1878. It would be wrong to clean all that up." Technē director Justin Northrop speaks to ADR about the studio's reinvigoration of the historic Espy Hotel in Melbourne's St Kilda.
