Zenith’s Lois Collection deepens the precision and fluidity that designer Keith Melbourne established with his 2010 Ellis Collection.
“I saw the opportunity to revisit the Ellis collection and evolve it to suit the current market,” says Keith Melbourne of his latest collaboration with Zenith.
The evolution and elevation from Ellis to Lois is found in the details. The collection of contemporary seating and tables again evokes the language of geometric lines but within soft, accessible forms.
The armchair, lounge and ottoman are accented with piping details that give each piece a crispness but when paired with generous, rounded forms are accessible rather than clinical.
The side table and coffee table set in a rich Walnut veneer are a gem-shaped pair that match the warmth and coherence of the seating range.
Simple, slender legs finished with matte anodised gold or charcoal feet enhance Lois’s lightness and compact footprint.
The collection epitomises the precision and comfort that has come to be associated with Keith Melbourne. Before beginning his design studio, Melbourne had a long career in aerospace and automotive engineering. This experience is on show in the tailoring and technicality of his creative output.
“I’m equally as excited about exploring form as I am about structure, materials and manufacturing processes,” says Melbourne. “I naturally resolve aesthetics and structure at the same time.”
When collaborating with Zenith, Keith Melbourne creates pieces that sit at the intersection of art and engineering and resolve the relationship between the two-dimensional line and three-dimensional form.
